Rote Ndao district has a unique reptile species found nowhere else in the world. This reptile is a snake neck turtle Chelodina Rote or mccordi. This includes orders testudines Reptiles of family and subfamily chelidae Chelodina.
This species has a unique shape, small size, resembling a snake's head, and the carapace is arched upward. Long neck for most of the carapace, so to hide his head, the neck should be folded circular carapace.

Small turtle neck length was expressed as a new species in 1994 after research conducted by scientific institutions in cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry. This species is a fraction of the C. Novaeguineae.
Snake neck turtle adults can reach 15-25 cm in size and shape of carapace (shell) side of the carapace with a unique curved upward.
