alat musik Sasando adalah sebuah alat musik petik yang berasal dari pulau Rote-Nusa Tenggara Timur.musik sasando sendiri berasal dari bahasa rote "sasandu" yang berarti berbunyi atau bergetar alat musik ini sangat mirip dengan harpa dalam bentuk mini.

alat musik sasando ini sudah diggunakan oleh nenek moyang penduduk kepuluan rote sejak turun temurun sehingga alat ini sudah tidak asing lagi di kalangan penduduk asli pulau rote. terlebih ketika sedang diadakannya upacara adat bunyi alat musik ini selalau terdengar.



alat musik yang dibuat secara tradisional ini ternyata sangaggat indah bunyinya, bahan untuk membuat sasando pun sangat sederhana dan sangat mudah didapat terutama di daerah kepulauan rote , bagian utama atau tabung tengah sasando terbuat dari bambu , begitu juga ganjalan yang dipakai untuk merentangkan senar atau dawai - dawai sasando.sedangkang wadah untuk resonansi terbuat dari ayaman daun lontar yang dibuat seperti kipas.

sungguh sebuah alat mmusik yang sangat tradisional dan sangat indah , yang mampu memberikan nada yang sangat indah. Sehingga membuat alat musik ini sering dijadikan souvenir , dan menjadi idaman bagi para wisatawan mancanegara maupun lokal
